The Journey How to Live By Faith in an Uncertain World by Billy Graham

Many of us have heard the name Billy Graham, one of the better known evangelist of this time.  When I purchased this book way back when (note the dusty jacket in top photo) I  expected that there would be many words of wisdom within its covers. I was not disappointed (note the many paperclips marking pages in lower photo).
Many have heard that life is called a journey, one that begins the moment we are born. This book discusses our journey and offers many signposts to help direct us along the way. "Each of us in on a journey, inevitably moving from one stage to another until its conclusion"* Life, no matter who we are, will have difficulties. It is how we handle those difficulties that show the world who we are.
When I look back on my own life, I see where when the road I was on came to a fork, I took the wrong one. I didn't stop and consider what my wait ahead, or what the consequences of the wrong choice would be. I forged on head first and head strong. In this book, Dr. Graham discusses the many things that are waiting ahead of us on that wrong fork. He also discusses the ways to prevent taking that wrong direction to begin with. Through faith, through obedience, through prayer, through trust are just a few of those sign posts.
All through the book he talks of God's love, not for one, not for many, not just for the select, but for all: "Wherever sin has wreaked its havoc, we should seek to put Christ's transforming live into action. We will never make this world a perfect place; that will only happen when Christ returns in glory. But we are called to make it a better place, doing all we can to alleviate human suffering and combat social injustice. Of all people, Christians should be burdened about the intractable problems that plague the human race, such as poverty, disease, ignorance, famine, environmental damage, racism, violence, and war. .."* On this journey to becoming ever more like Christ, we must be concerned with the same things that touched the heart of Christ.
This book answers many questions. This book offers ways to understanding some of the things that have confused, and ways to move past those who have given a bad impression of Christianity. This book shows the way to make the journey not easy, but easier.  It is written in a way that is easily understandable and without judgement. The one question that will stay with me is this, "Do others see Christ in the way you live?"*
To me, this has been a book well worth reading.
